Biography
Sarah O’Brien is a dedicated California attorney with more than 11 years of experience helping businesses and individuals navigate various legal disputes. She focuses her practice on business and employment litigation and construction defect matters and is known for her thorough preparation, clear communication, and practical, approachable style.
A native of upstate New York, Sarah earned her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in Boston. While in college, she gained her first experience in litigation through externships with the respected litigation firms Cooley Manion Jones LLP and Foley Hoag LLP. She later received her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.
Since becoming an attorney, Sarah has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in the California State Superior Court, as well as the California Federal District Courts. She handles cases through every phase of the process, including pre-litigation stages, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal. Her appellate work has taken her all the way to the California Supreme Court.
Sarah particularly enjoys the behind-the-scenes work that often makes the difference in a case, including careful legal research, persuasive writing, and strategic briefing. At the same time, Sarah understands that most people and businesses do not want to spend their lives in litigation. Sometimes the best result is a hard-fought victory in court, and sometimes it is finding a practical resolution that allows a client to move forward. Sarah works closely with her clients to understand their goals, explain their options, and develop a strategy that makes sense for their particular situation. For Sarah, being a lawyer is about more than knowing the law. Legal disputes can be stressful, confusing, and overwhelming, and she believes clients deserve an attorney who will be responsive, straightforward, and genuinely invested in helping them through the process. Her goal is to give clients confidence that their case is being handled thoughtfully and aggressively while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
Outside the office, Sarah enjoys woodworking, camping, cooking, and spending time with her husband, their two young boys, and their corgis.
